1999 Porsche 911 GT3 996.1 side profile.
№ 05 / 19 · 1999 MY

The 996.1 GT3 is where the modern Porsche GT-car program begins. Roland Kussmaul's territory at the time — the engineer who had developed the 911 R for racing — set the philosophy that Andreas Preuninger would carry forward: a road-legal homologation of a near-cup-car, sold to drivers who actually used the cars on track.

The only purpose-built track car in the collection — the one with a roll cage and a redline that has to be respected.

Mezger flat-six (962 Group C engine family), 3.6L, 360 hp at 7,200 rpm, redline north of 7,800. Cup-derived suspension, fixed rear wing on a one-piece carbon assembly, deletion of rear seats. Clubsport package adds a half-cage and harness mounts.

Risk note: Track-history examples often have hidden chassis stress; cars with documented street-only history command meaningful premium.
