/// Why this one
The 2JZ-GTE legend — the car around which the entire post-1990s Japanese tuning culture organized itself.
The collection's target is the JDM RZ in 6-speed manual, imported under the 25-year rule (which opened for 1999 cars in 2024). Roughly 3,000 1999 RZ cars built. The U.S.-spec Turbo ended production in 1998, so for a 1999 model year the RZ is the only specification that exists.
/// Provenance
3.0L inline-six, closed-deck cast-iron block, sequential twin Hitachi CT20 turbos, six bolts per main bearing, forged internals capable of supporting 800+ hp without internal modification. 'The 2JZ can take it' is cultural shorthand for the engine's apparent invulnerability to abuse.
Risk note: Most surviving cars are heavily modified; an unmolested, original-paint RZ is the rare and valuable specification.
